Why Men Who Sit Are Superior

Hubbie will kill me for blogging about this. However, I find the importance of getting my social commentary out in the world more important than fearing any marital repercussions.

I was browsing old posts over at CoalminersGD when I came across this post. About how nasty women are who "piddle" on the seat, as she so politely put it. Since she has made the point for me, I am going to get on my soapbox and take it one step further.

See, my hubbie is a sit down pee-er. Now there are a lot of women out there who find that to be very emascuclating. I think they are full of shit. Tell me how macho it is for their husbands to stand and pee while you spend the time on your hands and knees cleaning up all their sprinkles. Uh huh. Thought so.

I used to think it was a bit weird, too. I remember, waaaaaaaay back in the day, asking hubbie why he sat when he peed. His answer stopped me in my tracks.

"Guys get tired, too. Why should you girls get to sit and have a minute to yourselves? Why shouldn't guys get a break?"

I had absolutely no comeback. And it's true. Think about it. You are at work. You have to pee. You go in the stall, do you business, and sit there for a minute. For five. Put you head in your hands. Collect your thoughts. Try to compose yourself enough to keep yourself from strangling the bitch in the cubicle next to you.

Why shouldn't guys have the same luxury? Why shouldn't they get to pee in private? Without having to make eye contact or stand next to a colleague that they can't stand? Someone who wants to chat about some inane bullshit when all the guy wants to do is take a piss in peace and quiet?

The other main factor, however, seems to be height. Hubbie is over six feet tall. From what I have gathered, height seems to make a difference. The splash factor increases with the height of the man. And as my dear hubbie so eloquently put it, "Why would I want pee to hit the toilet seat and splash on my pants?" Excellent, excellent point.

This is not to say that urinals do not have their place. Hubbie uses them in public, but I can totally see his point on the sitting down thing. I would like to think that he has enlightened me on some of the trials and tribulations of being a man.

So there it is, ladies. A different perspective to think about.

Yeah, there's something to be said for being secure enough in your masculinity to let the inner lazy man come out ;)

Thanks for your visit to my site and your comments!

You know, I never thought of it that way. Ty-man doesn't ever use urinals, unless he's in a hurry and all the stalls are being used. He still stands, but can't stand the thought of some guy standing next to him checking out his "junk." Poor thing.

Lucky girl. If only we could train all men.

Too funny. My husband does the same thing, and he says the exact same thing- "Just having a rest." I love the lack of mess. I wish we could've talked my son into doing the same, but he wasn't having it.

Thanks for checking out my WW picture!
