I have lots to piss and moan about, but for today I shall exude tidings of great joy at my joining of the 21st century.
We have finally gotten a DVR upgrade.
This has been a long-drawn out process thwarted by satellite and cable companies, a cheap husband budgetary restrictions and sheer laziness. I have finally won. We upgraded on Tuesday, and it has changed my life.
I have heard many people say the same thing, and I proudly join those ranks. No more missing a show because of screaming children, ill-timed solicitory phone calls or whatever nonsense is thrown my way. I have very few vices left in my life, and catching a few shows in the evening is one of them.
Besides which I can now cut the commercials out of my kids' lives. Or keep it to a minimum anyway. This week my pursuit of happiness involved a DVR upgrade. God bless commercialism, comrades.

Just as I cannot imagine my life before I had children, I (almost) equally not remember life pre-DVR.
It is a true wonderment of technology. Praises those inventor-types.
wow. i do not know what i would do with out a dvr. when i go to visit my mom (she lacks dvr tech) i sit there and try to rewind tv for the 1st week always wondering why the remote isnt listening to me.
congratulations and welcome to the "we can FF through commercials" crowd.
;)
I've started, since Z was born really, to feel like I'm getting older and out of touch. This post confirms it because I have no idea what a DVR is. Through the context of things, I think we're talking about some sort of televisual widget. Beyond that, clueless.
I need to dash, I've a golf date with John McCain and Poppy Bush.
Ah TiVo one of my most favourite things :)
DVR is a beautiful thing. As much as I hate paying out a lot of money for cable, I don't think I could be without my DVR. Setting up season passes and magically having new episodes of favorite shows appear is one of my (sad) life's little pleasures. Enjoy!
@BvB: I am proud to join those ranks!
@HollyStar: Skipping the commercials has been awesome!!
@AFreeMan: Come over to the dark side! It's a lot of fun!
@@MarmiteandTea: It is def becoming one of my favorite things--except I keep forgetting to use it! LOL
@MollysMom: We have done the season package thing yet. We try not to read the leaflets that come in the mail. Too tempting!
I am jealous.
I will live vicariously through TivO.
Weigh that fucker. I will send CASH, baby!
dvr is such a bad (good) thing... i can watch a whole year of mad men in one day and get nothing else done.
It is rather revolutionary, isn't it?
I still don't have a DVR or TIVO. Too cheap and no time to watch anything anyway. Dang, I'm old already.
