I just wanted to share these three photos. I am paying my respects to this awesome woman today, and though I only get 10 minutes by her side I am bringing these three photographs* with me to lay on her casket.
Here she is in my grandfather's WWII uniform. Apparently my grandfather told her to leave well enough alone because apparently the military frowned upon a civilian from donning a military uniform. He didn't want to get into trouble. She waited until he left the house, put it on on and had her girlfriend take the picture just to needle him. I'd like to think I got a little spunk from her.
I just love her expression in this photo. I have never once in my life seen her barbeque anything. Neither has my mom, in all the years she has been married to my dad. There are several photos of that day of her standing at the grill. I love that someone caught this moment for me to enjoy all these years later.
This photo makes me cry and my heart ache. This is how I imagine she is right now. I imagine her to be so happy to see my grandfather again. It is almost 20 years to the day that he died, and I know how much she missed him.
*Click on the photos to enlarge. The default blog size just doesn't do them justice.

Lovely photos and memories. I hope she is dancing now. Good luck today.
I'm sure she's dancing now.
Cherish these memories, my friend. She'll live on in you . . .
Thank you for sharing those pictures -- they're gorgeous. I love the last one, you can see the twinkle in their eyes..
What a beauty. Her expressions are priceless.
She's definitely left a legacy for you.
She's dancing and laughing with your granddad about that uniform picture. Guaranteed! :) Thanks for sharing, hon!
I am so sorry for your loss and so happy that you have these photos to augment your memories. Thank you for sharing them with the us.
@SSG & AFM: I truly believe she is. Thank you for the well wishes.
@tysdaddy: That knowledge gives me great comfort.
@Lindsay: The twinkle in their eyes brings tears to mine. It's so hard when they are gone, but wonderful to know how much they loved each other.
@BuddhaGirl: I am lucky to have spent so much time with her.
@CMGD: LOL I'll bet she is!
@RestaurantRefugee: It's been my honor to share these with all of you here.
She's a cutie! It's cute/funny that the uniform seemed to fit her small frame pretty well.
I just know she's up there having a blast with her man. What great pictures and memories to share.
I'm so sorry you've lost her....D
