The Closer I Am To Fine

Tonight will mark a landmark in my lifetime.

At the last minute, I scored tickets to the Indigo Girls.

And I have a girlfriend to go with me.

I am so excited I can hardly speak.

I think I might piss myself.

I have wanted to see them for years. Years. Now I have my chance.

One woman's misfortune is my ship coming in. She can't go. I got her tickets.

As I am the kind of person who feels that all events in life are best when shared, I brainstormed and thought of a mom I have been getting to know here in NewTown. I called her on a whim, and she is actually free and willing to be spontaneous since I only asked her yesterday and the concert is today.

I am packing the picnic basket. She is bringing the wine. It is going to be a blast.

Update Update Update Update

I just got this email from the woman selling me the tickets. I cannot even believe it.

Hi NATUI,
I'm so sorry, but I was looking for the tix last night and absolutely cannot find them. We've had a lot of company over and have done a lot of cleaning, so I'm afraid we may have recycled or thrown them out. I'm really sorry about that. I'm pretty sure they're not sold out, so you can still go to the show, but I know that I was offering them for cheaper, so I apologize for getting your hopes up.

Hope you still get to enjoy the concert. Please let me know if you've received this email. If I don't hear from you, I'll give your husband a call.

Shannon

This dumbfuck of a woman listed these tickets multiple times over the past week or so. Her newest posting was yesterday, which is when I contacted her.

I am trying to find a new set of tickets right now. If I can stop crying long enough to read the screen, that is.

Update Update Update Update

I didn't get to go.

My friend and I did go out to dinner. We had a margarita and chatted until 11.15 pm. It was a good time.

But still not the same.

Fuck, I feel really sad.

I am tempted to change the title of this post to Shame On You.

Hoo-freaking-ray! I'm so excited for you! My sister had a block of FREE tickets to see three years ago, but I couldn't get out of work. *pouting* I SO missed out! Go have some damn fun!

O.M.F.G. I'm with Avitable. She double-sold them and doesn't have the balls to tell you so. Oh, and I was so excited for you, too! Do you want me to roll her house?

You know what? She's a lying ass bitch. She probably lives in a pigsty that's never been cleaned. Cleaning, my ass. I hate her for you.

Ugggghhhhhh! I was so excited for you and couldn't beiieve what happened next. I hope you can still get some tickets and go--wine, Indigo Girls, picnic basket, new cool, spontaneous friends? These are the things that summer memories are made of! Don't let some hair-brained/shifty(?) loser ruin your fun.

OK, it sucks that the ticket thing fell through.

But can I still say... the only way to see the Indigo Girls is with another woman.

Huh? huh?

No?

I'll go back and sit in the corner.
