Laughter Is A Choice

I've got lots to cry about today.

I choose to smile.

My mom came to visit. I'm sad she's gone home, but I know how lucky I am.

Hubbie snuck off to the store to buy cards and flowers this morning. He took the kids with him. LittleBird came running into my room to tell me that she'd gotten me a card. A SNOOPY card, no less. Give me the secret-spilling enthusiasm of a three year old over a true surprise any day.

I am currently drinking a glass of Pinot Grigio and eating a homemade shrimp fondue with garlic bread while watching Star Wars. All the senses are pleased.

Despite my anxiety speaking Swedish, I called my "Swedish Mother" to wish her a happy mother's day. I know I made her day. Talking to her helped make mine.

It is a good day, damnit. I won't let hormones or MILs fuck it up for me.

ETA @ 10.24 EST: Thank the stars Hubbie took a peek out into our garage because OUR ENTIRE GARAGE IS FLOODING with the rain we are having. Our paintings, rugs, CPUs, box after box of books. All of it is currently stored in the garage. We have spent the past two hours carrying boxes out and into the house trying to assess the damage. Hubbie is now outside with a shovel trying to divert water from underneath the side door. The door that we discovered has no threshold to keep water out. And here I thought this Mother's Day might not be memorable.

Hey, Happy Mother's Day! Dr. O'C just celebrated her second this year. I think she's just moving us to different countries ahead of the local Mother's Day so she gets more chocolate.

Happy Mother's Day! I'm glad you had a good one.

Screw the MIL!

I second Blue Momma! Have a great Mother's Day! I need to read some MIL posts, so I'll refrain from saying screw the MIL until I know what I'm talking about.

I personally, milk this holiday for all it's worth. You wouldn't believe the shit I've made my husband do all in the name of Mother's Day.

May the force be with you, NATUI!

Oh honey! Are you sure that the laughter isn't maniacal cackling at this point? The last time I lived in a house that had so many problems, it was haunted. I kid you not. I would be on the phone to the landlord, if I were you.

I'm glad that your Mother's Day STARTED okay, though,

Hugs - D

What in the holy hell?

I'm sorry to hear that the House of Hell has attempted to overshadow your otherwise FABULOUS and well-deserved mother's day!

Here's to more days of shrimp fondu, Star Wars, and kids whose enthusiasm breaks down all barriers!

Getting drooling drunk is a choice, too. Maybe even a good one. {hugs}

Happy Belated Mother's Day.

I'm also popping in to say you won the personalized fruit roll-ups. Your comment had me rollin'. Anyhoo, if you send me a quick email I'll respond with your code.

Congrats!

@CiHV: I hope Dr. O'C had a great day. You guys were together, so it's all in what you make of it. A lesson I relearn every year.

@Blue Momma: That's right! MILs be damned! LOL

@K-Mom: Read up on the MIL posts--it sounds like you and I have a lot to talk about. :)

@Momma: I believe you. And believe you me the same thought has crossed my mind.

@Buddha_Girl: Amen. I need a redo on the Star Wars, though. I missed the whole thing because of the flooding.

@Gypsy: I agree. I still need to test out all those recipes I posted. That Green Eyes is still calling my name. I am such a sucker for sweet, mixed drinks. I am such a poser.

@Worker Mommy: Thanks for stopping by! Will be emailing you...

@CMGD: I need to call you anyway. Dr. Miracle changed my appointment date to the 17th blah blah fucking blah.
