He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

That is the best way to describe the last few days. For every good thing that happens, something bad goes down. For every bad thing, we get good news. It has been such an emotional roller coaster that we are just exhausted. Thank god I don't drink. Not in vast quantities, at any rate.

The storylines have been unbelievable. If you were to see this in a soap opera, you would turn the channel because no one would write something so implausible. Here is just one example. I wrote it in this choppy style so you can actually feel the UP and DOWN of how this all played out:

I called a school.

They didn't call back.

I sent an email.

They didn't write back.

I finally got in touch with the director, and she's really nice!

But...There is not a spot currently available at the school.

However...We haven't missed registration! WooHoo!

Registration for the fall is this upcoming Monday!

You have to be there in person, and we're still thousands of miles away.

I quickly brainstorm...

Can someone go in my place?

YES!!!!!!! Oh sweet Jesus! YES!

The sign-up sheet goes up at 6.30 in the morning.

WTF...

The director recommends my friend get there at 6am or so to be sure.

OMG...Oh please god let my friend be up to doing this!

Then friend must go back at 9.30 to listen for her name and actually turn in the application.

Okay...

I call friend--please can I cash in on this favor?

She's totally cool with it.

Tears start flowing...I owe her a million Starbucks...

So...

Her husband will go stand in line to sign up LittleBird.

But...

She has a CAT scan at 9am on Monday so she cannot go back to finish the process

I am not making this shit up. She has a CAT scan scheduled...

She says she will call the director and talk to her...

And maybe her sister will drive across town to help us out...

More tears flowing...how fucking generous is this girl?

Friend calls me back.

She has talked to the director.

The director is making an exception.

If my friend comes to sign up LittleBird

And puts our application and check in an envelope

When she calls that name, she will open the envelope

And LittleBird will have a place to go to school in the fall.

My friend is going to be there at 5.45 am to be sure we are first on the list.

Take a breath. That was just ONE part of my afternoon today. Just reading this I can hardly breathe. I don't know how I am going to handle the next two weeks.

Dude, no friggin' way! That is just insane. It's not like it's Harvard or anything.

Glad your friend is there to help you out!

OMG - I can't believe what one must go through to get kids into a good school these days!

I'm so glad your friend was able to do that for you (and that the director was willing to make an exception! How blessed are you?

Keep us posted. I can't say that I'm *glad* I'm not the only one feeling the tearing forces of whatever cosmos are conflicting and igniting, but it does make me feel a little less alone ;-)

I'll treat you to a Starbucks when we catch that hockey game!

Peace - D

Wow, I never realized how competitive schools can be. I guess I am just used to the public school system, easy, but not exactly prestigeous. I hope your little one gets in!
