Yoda Knew His Shit

I was ready to write a scathing, hateful vent regarding Hubbie's behaviour tonight. The anger is still there, and it may come out again relatively soon. For tonight, however, it has been tempered.

Hubbie came home from work, and the longer he walked around the more I seethed and smoldered until I felt I would explode. So I took LittleMan, strapped him to my back in a meitai babycarrier that my good friend The Babywearer loaned me (thanks, babe!), and took him out into the neighborhood to walk off a little steam.

As I walked down the sidewalk, it occurred to me that we looked quite a bit like Luke Skywalker and Yoda. Me sweating my ass off, LittleMan whooping it up on my back. If I had given him a rattan cane I am sure he would have gladly wacked me in encouragement.

My angry strides lessened as we pointed out fireflies and waved at neighbors walking their dogs. By the time we reached our house, my body was shaking from exhaustion, and there was no room for anger. Just a sweet-smelling evening breeze, a happy two year old, and twinkling in the bushes around us. I have to admit that Yoda really knew his shit. It's hard to stay mad with a 30+ pound creature on your back.

taking a walk is usually the smarter strategy. :-)

A good brisk walk is the cure for a lot of ills. These days I try to take a walk when I see an argument brewing.

I love it when women can reference Star Wars (and actually know what they're talking about)... rawr..

Anyway, Tyler always calms my nerves as well. It's impossible to stay upset when he's laughing heartily when I mime boxing with him.

Speaking on behalf of the Hubbie, I'm glad you took that walk . . .

Strenuous physical activity always calms the heart and mind. And every time Ty-man tries to reason that sex is a strenuous physical activity? I tell him that sex when I'm angry with him would result in the removal of his head after the act.

Good for you for getting out and walking.

Damn, I guess I'm just going to have to stay angry. My youngest is near 50 pounds now. I think I'd have a heart attack carrying that much weight on me for the length of time it would take to cool me off.

See? Star Wars is right about EVERYTHING.

I like to take long walks with my two year old too... she loves the stroller, she is able to entertain herself talking to the birds and trees and I get time to really think and plot my revenge... oh... that wasn't your point was it?? ;)

I should try that sometime, carrying another human being to diminish the other crap I'm carrying.

I think I'm going to have to try that.

I love this story! Whenever I'm mad at Husband Guy, and he trips or stubs his toe, I glare at him and say, "I did that with my Jedi mind tricks."
