Finger-Licking Good

I made a kickass dinner tonight as a highlight to the end of a busy weekend. It involved shrimp and caviar, and there isn't a bite left.

Which leads me to ask: When is the last time you licked your plate? For real, people. The last time you honest-to-god looked around your living room, set your utensils down and licked your plate clean. I want to hear it. And ya'll are a bunch of fucking liars if you deny it.

If I had shrimp and caviar on my plate, I'd sure as hell lick it clean.

But really, there is no plate licking around here. It was officially banned after the kid imitated the husband (licking syrup, of all things) and her full plate of couscous ended up on the floor. I'm still picking it out of the carpet.

Sounds pretty damn enticing. I usually leave the plate licking to the dog, though. I'm far too refined.

Can't remember the last time I licked the plate. That said, I do lick off the melted PB&J off my plate after I finish my toast in the morning. But I use my finger on the plate, not my tongue.

yeah, i'm with patois, i use my finger on the plate, or I get a piece of bread and mop up all the good stuff. Anything with thick beef gravy or beef fat... just love it. Bread and dripping... mMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I NEVER lick my plate clean. Has to do with my OCD, and my MORBID TERROR of getting any nasties on my face. However, I do scrape the holy hell outta my plate with a fork or spoon to try to salvage every last morsel of yummy food.

I did that once recently (about a month ago) to get the last scrap of chocolate sauce off the plate from a Weight Watchers eclair. Those things are delish!

And I would only admit that for you, dear.

I haven't actually licked my place in a long time, although the last time Lancelot made wings I totally wiped the stuff off my plate with a finger and licked my finger.

I, too, lick my finger rather than the plate. And, honestly, I can't remember the last specific time I did that. But I know it probably involved something sweet. And chocolatey. And gooey. YUM!

I have to agree with the others about not actually licking my plate, though I will let the cats go at it when I am through.

Now using a finger or two to get that last bit of yumminess? That is a for sure - probably did it yesterday!

@Jayna: Ooooh. Couscous in the carpet does not sound fun.

@A Free Man: Snort.

@Patois: That kind of counts.

@SSG: Bread and dripping is amazing.

@Joe: Does that mean you can't do the finger thing, either?

@RiverPoet: Ah! Finally someone who isn't afraid to get down to it! I love ya man!

@Gypsy & CMGD: I recommend actually licking the plate next time. It is very satisfying.

@Blue Momma: I am finding people with pets tend to let the pets take care of the plates. My two cats are worthless and will barely sniff it much less lick. I miss my childhood cats who would sneak food off of my plate if I turned my head. And something right in front of me.

Dudette, I've been on a harsh, harsh, harsh diet for the last 6 months - I lick my plate every. damn. chance. I. get.

Are you going to post the recipe? It's been awhile since I've licked my plate...shrimp and caviar sounds like it just might do the trick.
